Dental Crowns & Bridges

Living with damaged or missing teeth can mean changing daily habits, experiencing discomfort, and feeling self-conscious about your teeth’s appearance. At The Dental Centre, we custom-craft dental crowns and bridges that look natural and fit perfectly. Our dentists will help you explore options and provide recommendations for your smile goals.

What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a custom-made "cap" that covers the entire tooth from the gumline up. We have our durable crowns crafted from materials like porcelain or zirconia. The materials selected combine strength with beauty and can mimic the appearance of natural tooth. The overall goal of a crown is a stronger tooth that blends effortlessly with your smile.

What Does Placing a Crown or Bridge Involve?

A dental crown or bridge can usually be placed in two visits. First, we prepare your natural tooth for the crown and then take impressions of your teeth. The impression accurately captures the position of your teeth so that your crown fits perfectly.

The impressions we take are sent to a custom dental lab, where skilled technicians fabricate your permanent restoration, which usually takes a few weeks. Before you leave our office, we fit you with a temporary bridge or crown to wear while the lab created your new crown or bridge.

Once we receive your restoration back from the lab, we will schedule an appointment for you to return to our office. At that time we check the finished restoration and make adjustments as necessary to ensure a comfortable bite and a precise fit. The final step is cementing the restoration permanently into place.

Before you leave, we will give you instructions on caring for your new crown. The restoration is fully functional, but requires care including proper oral hygiene and regular dental cleanings to prevent damage and the need for replacement.
